Shelly developer Zoey Bauer released Shelly 2.3.2.2 today as a new stable update to this open-source graphical package manager for Arch Linux-based distributions, adding new features and improvements.
Shelly 2.3.2.2 is here to improve support for the Arch Linux-based CachyOS distribution by bringing the CachyOS updater path to feature parity and implementing a command that lets you downgrade packages from the CachyOS repositories. Shelly now automatically detects the repository of choice.
The new Shelly release also introduces the ability to install AppImage apps via drag-and-drop, command-line support for populating gpg keyring, sorting support for package size columns, support for the –now flag for system operations, and the ability to parse Arch Linux news from HTML to Markdown.
There are also several UI enhancements in Shelly 2.3.2.2, such as loading state and improved description box for the Recommendations page, improved visual presentation of installed packages in the question dialog, more compact rows in Shelly Search, as well as improved margins and alignment of the package details dialog.
A couple of bugs were fixed as well, including downgrade issues and a failure of the “upgrade all” function with the upgrade list during partial failures, and several new translations were added for German, Hungarian, and Japanese users, while the Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Catalan translations were updated.
Of course, some code cleanup and other under-the-hood improvements are also present for a more reliable and stable experience. Check out the release notes on the project’s GitHub page for more details about the changes included in Shelly 2.3.2.2, which you can download from the same location as ready-to-use binaries.
Shelly is a modern reimagination and alternative to Arch Linux’s default package manager, supporting third-party app stores like AUR and Flathub, as well as AppImages. Shelly comes with both a graphical UI and a CLI version. CachyOS recently adopted Shelly as the default GUI package manager.
